Definition

objekto (objekto.io) is a French online service that turns a description — a few words, a photo, a sketch or a 3D file — into a real object: its AI designs the 3D model part by part, checks that every part is print-ready, shows an exploded view and an assembly guide, then has the parts made by an industrial 3D-printing workshop and delivered to your door.

Key facts

  1. Free to start: 2,000 credits at signup, once, no card required — enough to design a first object of 2 to 4 parts. On the free tier: ordering prints, the free sliders, the gallery and remixes are included; one generation at a time and up to 4 unique parts per object; print files and credit packs are for subscribers.
  2. Plans (prices incl. VAT, per month): Creator $29 with 2,900 credits, up to 8 unique parts per object; Pro $70 with 7,800 credits (10% off every credit), up to 12 unique parts per object; Studio $299 with 40,000 credits (25% off every credit), up to 12 unique parts per object. Yearly billing: 10 months' price for 12 months of credits, granted at once.
  3. Design is paid in credits, per generation by size: S (1 part) 950 credits, M (2–4 parts) 1,900 credits, L (5–8 parts) 3,400 credits, XL (9–12 parts) 5,200 credits; Invent mode adds 650 credits. Each chat message costs 5–150 credits at measured cost (usually about 20–60). Sliders, print quotes, renders, file exports and the assembly guide cost 0 credits.
  4. Credit packs for subscribers: 1,000, 3,000, 10,000 credits, at the plan's rate (1,000 credits = $10 on Creator, $9 on Pro, $7.50 on Studio).
  5. Printing is paid in US dollars on the English site (euros on the French site), never in credits: the firm price (incl. VAT, delivery included) is shown before you order. Real designs open to orders, delivered in France: Vulpe, a low-poly fox figurine (1 printed part, https://objekto.io/en/d/renard-vulpe-figurine-low-poly-ec0311fc) from $40.90; Toy Racing Car "Comète", 100% 3D printed (5 printed parts, https://objekto.io/en/d/voiture-de-course-jouet-comete-100-imprimee-22925e52) from $80.90; Vintage rolling scooter figurine (5 printed parts, https://objekto.io/en/d/figurine-de-scooter-vintage-roulante-1e7ccbeb) from $100.90.
  6. Manufacturing: industrial 3D printing by partner workshops (Craftcloud, 3DAPI), picked for each order on price and lead time. Every design passes objekto's automatic printability checks before it can be ordered; the workshop checks the files again before production and may reject a part, in which case the AI fixes it for free or you're refunded. Delivery: France only at launch.
  7. Generation time, measured on real jobs over the last 45 days (median, then the usual range, queue included): S 11 min (5–31), M 28 min (21–49), L 57 min (36–67), XL 73 min (53–94), by size (S = 1 part to XL = the most parts). Slider changes take a few seconds; the time left is shown during the generation. Manufacturing and delivery: usually 1 to 3 weeks depending on the material and shipping option (an estimate, not a guarantee).
  8. Every design is checked for printability (wall thickness, smallest detail, clearances, maximum size per material, interference, stability) and comes with an exploded view, a parts list and an assembly guide. Everything that can be printed is printed, joints included (threads, pins, clips); the rare part that can't be (electronics, a magnet, glass, a blade) is listed to buy separately, ready to use as sold.
  9. Materials include PA12 white (SLS), PA12 natural grey (MJF), PA12 full colour (MJF), Flexible TPE (SLS, Shore ≈ 88A), Flexible TPU 95A (FDM), Standard resin (SLA, Somos GP Plus), Clear resin (SLA, Watershed XC), Black resin (SLA, Watershed Black), Ultra-fine resin (MJP Visijet), Cast brass (lost wax), PETG (FDM), PLA (FDM).
  10. Create in 3D from an image: for organic shapes (figurines, animals, pebbles, sculptures), pick a style image or start from a photo and objekto turns it into a printable 3D model.
  11. Import an existing 3D file (STL, OBJ, 3MF, PLY, GLB, STEP or a ZIP), open to every account: the AI checks it and can edit it (embossed logo, engraved text, resizing) before ordering.
  12. Style images before the 3D: the concierge shows what the object could look like (the first round is free), then designs the one you pick.
  13. One colour per part: ask in the chat (“make the wheels black”) or click the part; renders show the real colours.
  14. Small batches: order 1 to 100 copies, with a firm price per copy that goes down with the quantity (real workshop quotes at the exact quantity).
  15. The concierge asks for your budget and designs within it (FDM printing when it does the job, nylon when strength requires it).
  16. Daily generation limits: 2 a day without a subscription, 10 on Creator, 30 on Pro, 100 on Studio.
  17. Files: STL, 3MF and STEP downloads on paid plans; the parametric source code on Pro and Studio.
  18. Community: new projects are public by default and appear in the gallery once their first version is ready (the creator can make them private at creation or at any time); conversations, photos and uploaded files are never published. A creator can also publish a design by hand with a CC BY, CC BY-NC or order-only licence, where others can remix it or order it as it is.

What objekto doesn't do

  • No more than 12 unique printed parts per object, and each part must fit the material's maximum size.
  • No weapons or weapon parts.
  • No certified products: no medical devices (a walking cane is a design object, not a certified mobility aid), no certified food contact (parts that touch food are off-the-shelf stainless steel), no certified load rating.
  • No toys for children under 3.
  • Delivery to France only at launch.
  • No free monthly plan and no trial: every new account gets 2,000 credits free at signup, once, instead.
  • Credits can't be used to pay for printing: prints are paid in US dollars.

How it works

  1. DescribeDescribe the object in a few words, or add a photo, a sketch or a 3D file. Pick a mode: Design, Invent (three directions for a wild idea) or Repair / replace.
  2. Shape the briefThe concierge asks the questions that matter (size, use, budget, materials) and shows the price in credits before anything is generated.
  3. DesignThe AI designs the object part by part as parametric CAD (S 950 credits, M 1,900 credits, L 3,400 credits, XL 5,200 credits), checks every part for printability and shows an exploded view.
  4. AdjustFine-tune dimensions with free sliders, or ask for changes in the chat.
  5. OrderChoose materials and get a firm price in US dollars, delivery included, then order. Shipping to France.
  6. AssembleThe parts arrive with an assembly guide; the rare part that can't be printed is listed, ready to use as sold.
